INNOVATION OF THE CENTER
A right eye squint male patient, age 16 years, novice monk, sustained a congenital squint of the eye with the diagnosis of strabisma fixus Rt. He was admitted in PRIEST HOSPITAL, Medical Department, Ministry of Health, Bangkok Thailand. The surgeon was Dr. Soros Wuthipant Ophthalmologist.
On 17th January 2001 an innovation of the Center was applied. Infrapatellar tendon allograft sling being was used to stabilize the eye ball to the right. The tendon allograft was prepared from classical knee Allograft - cadaveric (DD 428) of the size 3 x 0.3 x 30 mm, which was dissected out from classical knee of the DD 428 in the operating room. One day before this operation (16th Jan 2001)
Intra limb salvage operation at Rajwithi Hospital - Diagnosis Desmoid tumor right distal femur. The DD 428, Classical knee right was used.
This DD 428 classical knee was supplied to three patients as follow :
Distal part of femur with attached MCL and LCL with posterior capsule was used incooperated with total knee endoprosthesis replacement in Rajwithi Hospital, Bangkok on 16 Jan 2001.
Infra-patellar tendon was used in congenital squint right eye strabisma fixus right. This allograft is used for the first time in the world as per our review of records.
The proximal tibia was supplied to a loosening knee prosthesis in Hatyai Hospital on dated 18 Jan 2001. The tibia metaphysis was dissected and morsellize to fill up the space between the tibia and femur and the prosthesis components.
